Yellow Moongh Dhall 500g
What is Moongh Dhal?
Moongh Dhal, Moong Dal or Mung Dal - English name: split skinned green gram or yellow lentils.
Dal is often translated as “lentils” but refers to a split version of lentils, peas, chickpeas (chana), kidney beans etc. If a pulse is split into half, it is a dal. For example, split mung beans are mung dal. The mung bean (Vigna radiata) is a plant species in the legume family mainly cultivated in East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Mung beans are eaten whole, sprouted, split with the skins on and split with the skins removed - green moong dal (split with skin) and yellow moong dal (split with the skins removed). A stew or soup made with any kind of pulse, whole or split, is known as dal.
Moong dal is a protein-packed superfood with amazing nutritional benefits, high in antioxidants and nutrients. Its weight loss benefits along with lowering of cholesterol and diabetes makes it one of the highly valued superfoods.
This versatile food is cooked in many ways. Mung beans with their skins on have a flavor reminiscent of green leafy vegetables but the mung dal with the skins removed has a mild sweet flavor and is often used for desserts. Instead of using other beans you can also add moong dal in your curries, salads, and soups.
